Zook Dinon PA Director Susan Haggerty was an invited guest speaker at the Best Practices for Managing & Launching an SBIC: Managing SBICs at a Time of Political Change & New Investor Interestconference on March 23, 2017 in New York City. The conference was hosted by Capital Roundtable, America’s leading conference company for the middle-market private equity community, focusing on the “need-to-know” information needs of general and limited partners, and their colleagues and portfolio company managers. In 1958, Congress created the Small Business Investment Company (“SBIC”) program to facilitate the flow of capital to America’s small businesses.
Susan shared her insights on a panel regarding “Fund Administration – Tackle Internally, or Outsource to an Outside Specialist?” in which she detailed her expertise in fund administration and highlighted the advantages of engaging an outside specialist to assist with SBA compliance and financial reporting requirements. Susan noted that third party administrators can provide the most value through SBA reporting, SBA examination assistance, support during financial statement audits, and investor communications, among other responsibilities. Further, specialists focus on the trends of the industry and stay current with ‘hot button issues’ within SBIC compliance in order to serve clients’ needs.
